Telecommunications systems have become the backbone of the modern corporate world, making telephone and computer networks a basic requirement for day-to-day business operations. Even momentary failure of these systems can lead to enormous losses in productivity and corporate image. The best time to lay the foundation for an effective telecommunications system is during the construction of new office space. By controlling the design and installation of cabling systems and computer rooms, a business manager can create a stable infrastructure that allows deployment of today's technology as well as providing sensible preparation for future advances. OUR ROLE Our role is to clearly document Information Technology (IT) needs at the beginning of the construction process, and to act as a single point of contact between the construction team and the IT department throughout the construction process. This frees the IT staff to focus on their existing commitments to your firm's staff and facilities, yet provides the construction team with the steady flow of information necessary to implement the IT department's needs. Throughout the construction process, we work with both your technical staff and the construction team to insure the implementation of an infrastructure that is modern, fault-tolerant, and scalable. At the end of your construction project, we hand over to you a completely functional office telecommunications system. OUR EXPERIENCE Praxis Computing brings a unique cross-section of knowledge to the construction team. Our knowledge and experience with computer networks, telephone systems, and the construction process allows us to work with your Information Technology (IT) staff to efficiently establish their construction needs. Our experience and understanding of the construction process allows us to produce construction documents which communicate these needs to the construction team in the expected format. Our IT specific construction documents allow the architects, engineers, and contractors to proceed without needing to distract the IT staff from their daily responsibilities. The use of our detailed plans helps prevent misunderstandings and minimizes costly and time-consuming changes and delays later in the construction cycle. Once the construction process begins, we monitor construction document changes from the architects and engineers and make on-site visits to insure that the needs of the IT staff are met and that field changes do not negatively impact the telecommunication systems. By carefully analyzing all changes, we make sure that your IT staff becomes involved only when crucial decisions are necessary. |
